This three-day alpine track is suitable for experienced trampers only and crosses Motatapu and Soho stations, passing through remnant beech/tawhai forest and golden tussock. This track is part of the Te Araroa trail and connects Arrowtown with Wānaka. The Motatapu Track has physically challenging terrain and crosses and borders private land.
To access, take the Macetown Road – this is a 15 km, 4WD road with 22 fords over the Arrow River. For more information, visit the Department of Conservation website.
