Since its inception in May 2007, Base Contracting has successfully completed numerous civil construction, alpine, demolition, roading, service reticulation, landscaping, rural property development , earthworks and dairy conversion projects.
Key contact, client and consultant relations have allowed us to develop direct liaison and trust with the key local groups involved in construction and development projects.
Base Contracting currently have a staff of 16 specialist machine operators, drainlayers, project managers, civil engineers and support staff based at our Arrowtown depot and office.
Base Contracting are focused on delivering quality work which is on time, on budget and that meet our clients expectations.

The first Arrowtown School was in Buckingham Street and opened in 1863. It was on the site now occupied by the Oak development.

They used to sell Morphine in the local drug store. That was back in the goldmining days of course!

The discoverer of gold in the Arrow river was a shepherd named Jack Tewa or Maori Jack. He also won the Royal Humane medal for saving a man from drowning in Lake Wakatipu.

Arrowtown had four churches representing the early immigrant populations. Catholic, Presbyterian, Anglican and Methodist. All still operate today except for the Methodist Church.

In the 1950’s many New Zealander’s built cribs ( holiday houses) in Arrowtown and came here for their summer holidays.

Arrowtown was originally known as Fox’s. named after William Fox an early gold discoverer. Then it was known as The Arrow and later Arrowtown.
