Bush Creek Trail

The Bush Creek Trail leads to Arrowtown’s old water supply intake and can be accessed from the small footbridge near Dudley’s Cottage Precinct. Turn left and follow the dirt road west with the irrigation pipe on your right, and you will pass the site of Arrowtown’s outdoor ice skating rink and also stone walls in the river (used by Chinese miners in an effort to divert the water from one side to the other – they worked the dry side, always profitably).

The trail then continues steeply upwards to an open basin. You can continue on for another 30 minute climb to the saddle to get stunning views over the Whakatipu basin, or head back to Arrowtown.

Time: 1-1.5 hour return
