Matariki Arrowtown Kā-Muriwai

Matariki Arrowtown Kā-Muriwai is a true whanau event with festivities and Māori educational experiences spread along Buckingham Street to celebrate Māori New Year and the appearance of Matariki (or Pleiades) in the night sky. The event features Kapa haka performances by tamariki from the local preschool and schools, entertainers and light installations as well as plenty of kai. Matariki Arrowtown Kā-Muriwai started as a community event with the Arrowtown Preschool over a decade ago and at its heart, it is an event by the community for the community.
